This is a great opportunity for a an individual or couple ready to manage a small farm. Recent graduates of a training program would be good candidates, as would people who have worked for a successful grower for 2 or 3 years. Having a farm plan is important.
We can offer a lot of coaching to help you succeed in your venture. We have marketing connections to share. The local coop is relocating to a busy highway and should see a a substantial growth in sales. Farmers markets continue to thrive. The farm grew PYO stawberries, and the demand remains strong. We've had a successful spring bedding plant sale here for many years as well. There is also a big demand for poultry and this farm is well suited for small production.
.Joey and Betsy are in their mid-70’s. Joey’s health has deteriorated due to Parkinson’s Disease; Betsy is finding it hard to keep up with the homestead tasks in addition to care giving. Homesteading we'd love help with include: caring for a small orchard, growing seedlings, prepping a garden, mowing, cover cropping, and stacking fire wood. A good arrangement could be for the new growers to lease the farm land, rent the equipment, and rent the apartment by trading homestead help. We love to see new people eventually buy into this conserved property.
