Tenure arrangement details
We are interested in a 3-5 year lease or lease-to-own arrangement for the main agricultural acreage. We are USCS VT Farm #1434 and enrolled in the current use program. Ideally we will find a farmer/farm family to help us maintain our machinery and continue the haying operation while transitioning to their own agricultural pursuits. 5-10 acres suitable for vegetable production. 20+ acres could be used for grazing, current electric fencing is adequate for cows/horses but would need new fencing for ruminants. Our forestry management program will be updated in 2026
Additional Information
The land/buildings to be leased are part of our 216-acre property. We built our home on a contiguous 10+acres of open land at the north end of the property and are hoping to lease the main agricultural acreage as we move to full retirement. Most of our remaining land is forested. This farm has only had four owners since the mid1800s; we are looking for someone who wants to put down roots and care for the land as we have done since 1988, and as Farmer Pease and his sister Ellen did for 50 years before us.
