We are USCS VT Farm #1434 and enrolled in the Vermont Current Use program. Right now we board horses and produce 3000-4000 square bales annually in two cuttings. Ideally we will find a farmer/farm family to help us maintain our machinery and continue the haying operation while transitioning to their own agricultural pursuits.  5-10 acres are suitable for vegetable production. 30 acres are being used for hay production and grazing, the current electric fencing is adequate for cows/horses but would need new fencing for ruminants. Our 10-year forestry management plan was updated in 2026.

The land/buildings to be leased are part of our 216-acre property. We built our home on a contiguous 10+acres of open land at the north end of the property and will continue to live there. Most of the remaining acreage is forested. The potential for agro-tourism and/or a partnership with the nearby nature center is considerable as the farm is only ten minutes from the state capitol, Montpelier, and less than an hour from Burlington.

This farm has only had four owners since the mid1800s. As we move toward full retirement, we are looking for someone who wants to put down roots and care for the land as we have done since 1988, and as Farmer Pease and his sister Ellen did for 50 years before us.
