Farm business ownership
Description of farming experience
After sugaring as a hobby through my childhood, I started sugaring on a commercial scale at the UVM Proctor Maple Research Center and was trained on all production methods for 8 years. For the past two years I have been operating my own sap only business, collecting from roughly 2500 taps, in Underhill VT.

Tenure arrangement desired
Lease
Tenure arrangement description
My ultimate goal would be to purchase some land to use for production, but in the short term I’m hoping to lease taps to help my business grow. I am open to a conversation about the right arrangement.
Planned farm enterprise: Primary
Maple
Farm enterprises description
I am looking to add leased taps to my existing enterprise. I would like to grow to somewhere within 20,000 taps, so larger parcels are desirable but smaller leases in the right area are also viable options.
Written business plan
Yes
Business planning description
I’m planning to grow the business as a sap only model until I’m able to access appropriate infrastructure to boil. My next step would ideally include a long term lease on a property that has the potential resources to expand collection infrastructure at the pace of my business. I can provide a formal business plan on request.
