Farm management experience

Description of farming experience

We have owned our own farm since 2018, and both grew up on farms. We have experience with veggies both indoor and out, all sizes of livestock from birth to butcher, mushrooms, fruits, dairy, homesteading and market farming skills, have worked for large grain farms and Robert has his CDL. Bridget was a Master Gardener.

Tenure arrangement desired

Collaborative model

Tenure arrangement description

We eventually want to own our land. If you would like to start as a co-op model that transitions into us owning the farm and conserving and protecting the wild lands...that is ideal for us. You could even stay on the land until you retire or want to leave, if we are able to build our own house.

Planned farm enterprise: Primary

Perennials/Orchard

Planned farm enterprises: Others

Agroforestry, Homesteading

Farm enterprises description

We'd like to focus on integrating people in the land through education and provision of foods and beautiful goods.

We would also like to focus our farming on integrating animals onto the land, as a means to manage it more naturally.

We would likely start with veggies or meat production, and transition into offering more like fruits/orchard and mushrooms or farm dinners as our systems, market and infrastructure grows.

Farmer housing needed

Yes

Water source needed

Yes

Farm infrastructure needed

  • Barn/farm buildings

Description of infrastructure needed

At minimum, a well. At best, a small cabin or barn for us and our animals, some existing fruit trees and fencing, and a high tunnel would be great. We are able to build housing or anything else needed. A tractor would be great, as our current tractor is very old.

Access to equipment needed

No

We are passionate about the land and community. This will be our legacy and our family home. We want to provide the best possible food and connection with the land as possible for our kids and for the community at large, whether wild or human. Our years of experience, time spent in careers with applicable skills, exposure to family and community farms, and love for it all sets us up for success.
