Gardening

Description of farming experience

We have experience in gardening and have loved growing what we eat, but this would be our first attempt at farming. Both of our grandfathers are farmers and I worked on a neighbor's farm as a boy and young man. We are fundamentally committed to sustainable stewardship of the land, regenerative agriculture practices, and producing high-quality, food that nourishes our community while leaving the soil healthier than we found it.

Tenure arrangement desired

Farm transfer

Tenure arrangement description

Our primary goal is ownership, but we are highly flexible in how we get there. We are financially prepared for an outright sale/purchase or a structured farm transfer. We are also very open to a long-term lease or a lease-to-own arrangement(a 1–2 year tenancy that transitions into a purchase agreement).

With $100k in dedicated startup capital and a secure off-farm remote income, we are excellent candidates for a phased transition or a clean sale. We want to work collaboratively with a landowner to ensure a smooth transition that honors their legacy and keeps the land in sustainable, organic production.

Farm enterprises description

We plan to launch a diversified, sustainable farm focused on three primary enterprises:

  • Organic Vegetables: Market-scale production utilizing intensive, regenerative soil practices to grow high-quality produce for local markets or a CSA.
  • Livestock: Rotational grazing of small livestock to improve soil health, manage pastures naturally, and provide local proteins.
  • Hay Production: Utilizing existing fields for sustainable hay cultivation to support our livestock and supply regional needs. Our goal is an interconnected ecosystem where livestock rotation naturally fertilizes our vegetable plots and fields, minimizing external inputs and stewarding the land organically.

Written business plan

In progress

Business planning description

Our business plan focuses on a phased, low-risk launch backed by strong financial stability. With $100k in dedicated startup capital, we will fund infrastructure and initial inputs out of pocket, completely debt-free. My remote position provides our family with a reliable baseline income and health benefits, removing immediate financial pressure from the farm.

We will begin with intensive organic vegetable production and haying to generate immediate cash flow, while gradually scaling up our rotational livestock enterprise. We are committed to meticulous bookkeeping, lean operations, and utilizing local agricultural extensions to ensure ecological and economic sustainability from day one.

We are a committed family of six ready to turn our 6 years of growing experience into a lifelong farming legacy. As dedicated stewards, our goal is to care for the land through organic, regenerative practices that honor creation and serve our community.

We bring $100k in cash capital, 40+ hours of weekly dedicated labor, and a secure off-farm income for long-term stability. We are actively seeking a farm with a functional farmhouse for our family. Whether you are looking for an immediate sale or a trustworthy family to transition your land to via a lease-to-own agreement, we are ready to connect, work hard, and steward your property well.
