Worked on a farm

Description of farming experience

We are a couple with complementary farming and land‑based skills. My partner, Jon, has owned and operated his own landscaping and remodeling business for the past 20 years and has grown specialty crops for market during that time. I hold a Master’s degree in Sustainability and Climate Change and have worked in community garden education, co‑started an herbal farm business, served as an outreach coordinator for agricultural non‑profits, and maintained a small organic garden at home. Together, we hope to relocate to a property where we can grow food and specialty crops for sale while also creating a community‑oriented educational farm space for children and families.

Tenure arrangement desired

Collaborative model

Tenure arrangement description

Our land tenure goal is to establish a stable, long‑term home where we can live, grow specialty crops, and offer community‑based educational programs. Our preferred arrangement is a collaborative, relationship‑based model supported by a multi‑year lease and a clear written agreement outlining responsibilities and shared goals. We are also open to other long‑term options such as a farm transfer or lease‑to‑own arrangement if the relationship and vision align over time.

Farm enterprises description

Our farm enterprises will focus on growing specialty crops, organic vegetables, herbs, and flowers using regenerative and sustainable practices. We plan to develop a small but diverse market garden, offer value‑added herbal or botanical products, and create hands‑on educational programs for children and families. Our goal is to build a community‑centered farm that blends food production, ecological stewardship, and nature‑based learning in a way that supports both the land and the surrounding community.

Business planning description

Our business planning focuses on building a small, diversified farm that grows specialty crops, organic vegetables, herbs, and flowers while developing community‑based educational programs for children and families. We are committed to regenerative practices, thoughtful scaling, and creating enterprises that are ecologically sound and financially sustainable. Our plan includes phased growth—starting with a manageable market garden and expanding into value‑added products and seasonal programming as we deepen our connection to the land and community. We aim to create a farm business that supports our family, enriches the local community, and contributes to long‑term land stewardship.

Farm infrastructure needed

Description of infrastructure needed

We are seeking a property with basic infrastructure that supports small‑scale food and specialty crop production as well as on‑site living. Ideally, the land would have reliable water access, electrical service, and either an existing residence or a structure suitable for simple housing. Additional helpful features include a barn or shed for tools and equipment, areas for washing and processing produce, and space for hosting small educational programs for children and families. We are flexible and can adapt to a range of setups as long as the core utilities and a safe, functional workspace are available.

Access to equipment needed

No

We are a family looking for a place to put down roots, steward the land with care, and build a small, regenerative farm that also serves the community. Our goal is to live where we grow—cultivating specialty crops, tending the soil, and creating nature‑based educational programs for children and families. We’re seeking a long‑term, relationship‑based land opportunity with a landowner who values ecological stewardship, community connection, and thoughtful, small‑scale farming.
