Max, an expert/lifelong gardener, has a master’s degree in Sustainable Food Systems, and Rosie has a master’s in Ecological Restoration and a BS in Environmental Science. Max has worked on organic farms, organic vineyards, as a contractor for sustainable/holistic landscaping, and in urban farming for years. He has experience in each part of the vegetable, flower, and herb farming process — from planning to harvesting — as well as multiple years of experience in animal husbandry, CSAs and community-scale food programs, and soil restoration. They are both experts in pollinator and ecosystem health, and Max brings decades of experience growing food and herbs for the family and community.

We are open to creative/collaborative endeavors! Our long-term dream is to build a sustainable, holistic homestead and small farm that we can raise our future family on and one day pass on to them, while providing to the community. In the meantime, we would love any opportunity to take on stewardship roles at existing farms, apprentice under a farmer/homesteader perhaps looking to eventually pass on their land, lease-to-own/work-to-own, or just lease housing on land we could steward. Our priority is mindful, restorative stewardship that benefits land and community.

We are currently renting our housing, and Max is working at a nonprofit farm organization while Rosie is in law school.

Farm enterprises description

Max's background and desires are geared toward vegetable production, & we are excited to learn more about animal husbandry as well. Our ideal farm would be "market garden" in size, producing a range of vegetables with the freedom to experiment with different regenerative techniques to produce delicious and nutritious food for our family and local community, while hopefully improving the ecosystems around us too!

We would be excited to have egg-hens and are eager to learn more about sheep & goat care, and we're also very excited about the idea of learning about beekeeping.

We'd be super excited for a chance to apply our knowledge while learning from you, too, as we homestead and market garden.

Description of infrastructure needed

We are hoping to find a farm that has all the infrastructure and equipment minus the live-in farmers. We are renting currently so don't have access to farming equipment. We do hope to invest in our own equipment in our long-term vision once we have the space to store and maintain it.
