Hello! My partner Liz and I are looking for a place to call home sweet homestead of veggies, fruit, ducks, and more!

Highest level of farming experience

Gardening

Description of farming experience

We have experience with productive home vegetable gardening, flower gardening, assisting in an established small pecan tree grove, and growing and harvesting muscadine vines. We have limited knowledge of livestock management such as cleaning stalls, stacking and spreading hay, etc. We recently attended an educational program put on by the Wyoming Wool Growers Association, where we had hands on experience with sheep. My partner and I also have experience and passion for maintaining and preserving historic structures, as well as extensive experience with standard building maintenance, including irrigation lines.

Tenure arrangement desired

Farm transfer

Tenure arrangement description

We are very interested in lease-to-own or owner financing options- we feel these options would give us both structure to grow into our homesteading ventures and the freedom to explore various endeavors. We want to find somewhere to put down roots for the long term. We would prefer there to be a history of organic practices on the property that we can continue- we are ready to learn from the owners if they are willing to teach!

Planned farm enterprise: Primary

Homesteading

Planned farm enterprises: Others

Perennials/Orchard, Vegetables

Farm enterprises description

Our visions include vegetable gardening, establishing an orchard for fruit and berry production, herb growing, potentially cut flower production, and establishing a small heard of sheep and a flock of ducks for wool and egg production respectively. Land that would give us the ability to own or establish a sugarbush would be a HUGE perk, as this is also a major interest of ours. We are ready to put in the work to experiment and learn as much as we can.

Written business plan

In progress

Business planning description

We have dreams of establishing a farm stand, selling fresh produce, canned goods, homemade textiles such as quilts and embroidery, and handcrafted wood products. We also have interest in selling at local farmers markets and makers markets.

Ideal land would include access to areas where trout fishing and pheasant/bird hunting are abundant. Local availability of wild game is important to us.
