Additional Information

The owners of Windy Ridge Farm in West Haven are looking for a farm buyer for approximately 307 acres of conserved farmland and infrastructure. The property was conserved with the Vermont Land Trust in 1998.

The Pettis family operated Windy Ridge Farm first as a dairy, and then as an 80-head beef operation until recently. The property includes 80-100 acres tillable land, 40+ acres pasture, 94 acres woodland managed under a forest management plan, and a 6 acre Farmstead Complex.  A majority of the open land has soils of statewide significance.

Infrastructure includes:

  • Perimeter fence
  • 48x102’ dairy barn with attached milk room and 500 gal bulk tank; 46 tie stalls and barn cleaner in good condition
  • 60’ bunk feeding area
  • 20x60’ concrete yard with freestalls
  • 20x96’ trench silo
  • 24x60’ tool shed
  • 28x36 run-in shed across road
  • Two silos, one unloader in good condition and one that needs repair.

No housing is currently available on the property, but the conservation easement allows for new housing to be built within the farmstead complex.

Asking price is $400,000. VLT currently holds a Right of First Refusal on the property.
