Please describe your past and/or present farming experience
My partner and I are not farmers by trade; however, we have ample experience with "homesteading" and land stewardship. Additionally, we are wanting to begin a cooperative farming venture with a community of 8 adults and 3 children. Our intention is to be able to collectively steward the land for our own needs (food, fuel), and to be able to provide for the larger community (mutual aid, food pantries, etc.). After some time of discernment with the land, we may develop cottage industries. Our group is primarily interested in fruits, herbs, mushrooms, and grazing. We believe that the farming we undertake should be in right relationship with the land and focus on restoring the health of soils, waterways, and ourselves. In our immediate family we bring the following skills: vegetable gardening, perennial fruit gardening, permaculture techniques, chickens/layers, (all previous on "homestead" scale), river & stream restoration, light carpentry, and machine repair. Other skills & experience in the group include animal husbandry (sheep, goats), foraging, mushroom cultivation, hunting.

Our vision document is in formation (Feb 2021). Broadly, our goal is to find farm land (25-100 acres) near the greater Burlington area that would support a small eco village community of part-time farmers.
