Please describe your past and/or present farming experience
I grew up on a hobby farm in Sudbury, VT with a couple Jersey cows, milk goats, and chickens. I spent a lot of my childhood assisting my mother who was a veterinarian. For the past 20 years I have been a teacher, maintenance supervisor, and owner of Children's Country Day School in Minnesota (www.childrenscountryday.org). It is a farm and nature based preschool and summer camp based on 7 acres with llamas, alpacas, goats, horses, donkeys, and various other small animals. In addition we have ample gardens, a small orchard and perennial berry bushes. I have experience with all of the basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and landscaping needed to maintain the farm side of the school as well as the 8,000 square feet of licensed school space. I do not have much tractor experience, but I have put in hundreds of hours on skid steers and plows. I am comfortable using a chainsaw, digging post holes, and mucking out barns. Having run a small business with 20+ employees for the past 7 years I have an understanding of HR issues, budgeting, liability issues, and marketing. We would like to incorporate education or childcare with our farm. We will be relocating to Vermont once we have found the appropriate property- hopefully Fall of 2020 or early in 2021

Our vision is to either start or continue a farm or orchard that can sustain our family. We are particularity interested in perennial crops (apples, berries, hops, etc.), but are open to other options. We have cash available to purchase a property. We also understand how difficult it can be to find quality childcare and we would like to continue the work that I have done at Children's Country Day and provide farm and nature based childcare to the community. We would like to connect the next generation of Vermonters to nature, gardening, and livestock. Information on my current school can be found here: https://www.childrenscountryday.org/ We are flexible on the land and housing. If we could find the perfect piece of land and needed to buy a house nearby that is an option.
