Please describe your past and/or present farming experience

I have spent a little time unofficially on the farm at South village in South Burlington. I mostly helped tend the "Educational Growing Garden”, though I have always gardened as a hobby. Do you have a business plan? Please write an informative description of your vision & goals for your farming future.

We have set an overarching goal of creating a robust permaculture, cultivating and propagating native Vermont species. We would like to achieve a self sustaining food forest, over the course of years, resulting in a habitat for ourselves and our families, as well as the surrounding communities. This end goal would include an educational dimension, as well as a commercial one. I would ultimately like to create a fine dining experience to compliment the agricultural one. To get there, our first years of farming will focus on high intensity vegetable farming, as well as hemp farming, and cabbage farming. I am starting a business fermenting and selling sauerkraut and other vegetables, as an opppertunity to add value. The farm will initially focus on fast growing annual crops that can generate the quickest income, all the while focusing our attention on natural farming teqniques. We believe permaculture, and natural farming teqniques are the future of farming in Vermont. We are young, and idealistic, and almost certainly in need of some guidance. Most of all we would appreciate any help we can get from those in a position to do so, be it financial, land, or experiential. Thank you so much, -Seamus and Andrew
